Course aim

To enable the student to integrate the values, knowledge and skills required for competent practice in conflict management.

Course content

Negotiation of the placement; identification of areas for professional development; learning goals and tasks - contracting with the agency/supervisor; the organisational context for practice - agency policies, practices and procedures; professional and organisational accountability; the relationship of the agency to other organisations and the community; consultation and supervision; working as a member of a team; the application of conflict management knowledge, skills, values and ethics; principles underpinning professional relationships with clients and colleagues; assessment and screening; critical analysis and evaluation of interventions; working with cultural diversity; making appropriate referrals; self reflexivity and evaluation of learning; integration of theory and practice; report writing.
