To provide an opportunity for the skills and knowledge learned in the earlier stages of the program to be applied and extended by completion of a research project, under the guidance of an experienced supervisor.
To meet the requirements of this course, the student must prepare a literature review on the assigned project topic, undertake laboratory investigations where experimental design and methodology is developed in conjunction with a project supervisor and present the results and conclusions of the work in both a short seminar and in a full written report.
