Rehabilitation of Movement

Course aim

The aim of this course is to provide the opportunity to develop an understanding of biomechanical principles as applied to movement; the physiological effects, role and implementation of physical exercise under normal, high performance and pathological conditions, including their personal situation. An additional aim of this course is to provide an understanding of motor control theory and its application in the rehabilitation of movement and advanced skills in examination and management of movement and its impairments in the context of musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy.

Course content

Biomechanics and tissue mechanics; applied kinematics of ergonomics; motor control theory and its application to management of movement dysfunction in musculoskeletal disorders; physiology of fitness and training, examination of normal movement and movement dysfunction in skilled functional performance in the context of elite sport, recreation and the workforce; examination and management of movement dysfunction in patients with musculoskeletal disorders and chronic pain; application of education theory to the development of collaborative reasoning.
