The aim of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to develop knowledge of and apply specific and specialised advanced skills in Sports and Orthopaedic clinical physiotherapy practice.
Advanced assessment and management of patients with sports related musculoskeletal disorders; prophylactic management of athletes within the context of a sports program; prophylactic management of targeted orthopaedic groups; diagnostic and non-diagnostic clinical reasoning strategies, specific to the management of sports related disorders, including application of learning theory in these specific clinical settings; referral and collaboration with the patient or athlete, other members of the sports health team and other stakeholders; reporting and communication strategies for athletes and members of the sports health orthopaedic team. Development, implementation, on-going monitoring and appropriate progression of a physical fitness program for self and a classmate following appropriate screening and fitness testing.
