The aim of this course is for the student to acquire preliminary knowledge and skills required to perform practical procedures in musculoskeletal sonography.
Gross anatomy and pathophysiology of muscles, tendons, nerves, joints and other musculoskeletal structures. General scanning principles and pitfalls of musculoskeletal sonography. Scanning techniques and image interpretation for muscles, tendons, nerves, joints and other musculoskeletal structures; image interpretation of common masses that present in musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations; interventional procedures and protocols that may be performed in association with musculoskeletal sonography.

Knowledge of general medical sonography scanning principles will be assumed.
The student should be an accredited medical sonographer and working in an environment where diagnostic medical sonography is performed.
