To create for students an intellectual context in which to develop logical and creative solutions to real-world problems through observation, research and reflection.
Definitions and meanings; factors influencing demand for tourism; continuities in the history of travel and tourism; motivation for tourism; technology as a key factor in the evolution of travel and tourism; the roles of the public and private sectors in supplying tourism products; destination 'pull' factors; attraction characteristics; the destination life cycle concept; trends and issues.
