Course aim

To provide students with an overview of the ecology and value [moral, social and economic] of Australian marine and arid land environments.

Course content

The characteristics of marine and arid ecosystems: biodiversity and sustainability issues; ecological research techniques (including field identification of plants and animals); management of natural systems: South Australian coastal waters and arid land systems; sustainability issues: fisheries, marine pollution and arid land use; management issues: conservation of these ecosystems and development of parks and their management, indigenous use. Application of the above to Junior Primary, Primary and Middle School learning environments.
