Course aim

To enable the student to engage in the development of his/her social work practice, in a supported learning environment, and located in a practice setting.

Course content

Values and ethics; practice activity; process; purpose; the professional relationship; accountability; competence; integration of social work knowledge and practice; intervention approaches; organisational setting for practice (structure, roles, functions, philosophy); opportunities and constraints; social work within the organisation; relationships with related services and community; implications of practice for broader structural issues; social work and professional responsibilities; use of self in practice.
