Course aim

To provide students with knowledge of expanded spatial practices, including materiality and its relationship to human experience and memory, and to encourage research into social, ethical and political issues in the context of interior design and architecture.

Course content

Analysis of interiority of buildings; the body and reciprocal interactions; environmental issues and spatial practices, colour texture theory; domesticity; media representations. Research of the following themes: gender; social and material culture: the interpretation and effect of these influences and their integration into interior design. Analysis of the following criteria in the context of interior architecture: detail, patterning, colour, ornament and lighting.
