Course aim

To develop students' foundational knowledge of Western architecture and design through a chronological account of architecture and interior architecture's shared histories.

Course content

Students will be introduced to the relationship between design, culture, and environment through the study of architectural history - from Ancient Greece to the Arts and Craft movement of the nineteenth century. Students will develop skills to critically recognise, analyse, and communicate key narratives and themes underpinning the development of pre-Modernist architecture, interiors, and landscapes and their relationship to contemporary society.
