Course aim

To introduce students to the basic structure and services in high-rise structures and to familiarise students with the requirements of tenancy fitout.

Course content

The relationship between building services and the quality of interior environments; artificial lighting, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services, fire detection and suppression, vertical transportation; interior elements and construction methods applicable to commercial tenancy fitout including floor, ceiling and partition systems; re-use and demountability; preparation of technical drawings, schedules and specifications; legislation covering the design and construction of interior fitout; the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards; preparing budgets and opinions of probable cost.
