The course aims to equip students with fundamental statistical concepts and techniques. The course also aims to develop students’ abilities to solve real life problems with statistical approaches.
Statistical problem solving, scientific research methods, process improvement methods, planning a study, identification of key variables, measurement, sampling, experimental design, variation, the normal model, statistical process control, sampling distribution, mean and range charts, confidence intervals, one and two sample hypothesis testing, regression modelling, fore casting, written and oral presentation of results, MINITAB and EXCEL computing, use of statistical databases.
