Social Analysis and the Human Services

Course aim

To enable students to critically analyse social issues and the relationships between social issues, social policy and its implementation through human service programs.

Course content

Modern and post-modern theories of the state; theories of globalisation; social policy and social change; social diversity and social inequality; social policy development; human service organisations; human service workers and social policy development; stakeholders in the social policy process; accountability and evaluation; social issues; environment and sustainability; social diversity; identity and social inequality.
