Course aim

To enable the students to critically analyse situations for human service intervention and select appropriate practice approaches that reflect knowledge of core human service practice principles.

Course content

The students will further develop knowledge of professional and accountable generalist practice using ethical and cultural competence.
Students will critically analyse various practice perspectives (in particular: strengths and ecosystems perspectives), principles and theories, crisis intervention grief and loss; intervention frameworks and the empowerment-based practice process. The application, of these practice perspectives will be critiqued through data collection and record keeping, assessment, formulating and implementing intervention strategies, and using evaluation strategies.
