School of Psychology, Social Work and Social Policy
To enable the students to critically analyse situations for human service intervention and select appropriate practice approaches that reflect knowledge of core human service practice principles.
The students will further develop knowledge of the generalist practice context using ethical and cultural competence.
Students will critically analyse various practice perspectives (in particular: strengths and ecosystems
perspectives), principles and theories, crisis intervention grief and loss; intervention frameworks and the
empowerment-based practice process. The application of these practice perspectives will be critiqued through
data collection, engagement, assessment, formulating and implementing intervention strategies, and using evaluation strategies.
