Course aim

To enable students to develop or extend their skills and knowledge in a specified area of human service practice and to consolidate personal identity and presentation as competent human service workers.

Course content

Negotiating a placement; developing learning objectives; developing a working relationship with a supervisor; exerting positive influence in the workplace; managing workload; establishing credibility as a professional; engaging in reflective practice; identifying professional pathways; applying theory in practice; completing a satisfactory placement; establishing and managing culturally appropriate and collaborative relationships.
