Course aim

To enable the student to develop an understanding of government and citizenship in Australia.

Course content

Federalism and the Commonwealth and State constitutions; historical context of Australian political culture; the judicial system; the parliamentary system; the executive; democracy and citizenship; political parties and political participation; citizenship and human rights and social justice; the position of Aboriginal people in the Australian political system.
