Course aim

To equip students with the perspectives, knowledge and skills to enable the recognition, planning, design and execution of research in the wide range of forms relevant for engineering and technology investigations and developments.

Course content

The course provides a comprehensive multi-methodological approach to research spanning philosophical perspectives of research; diverse research methods and practical matters of doing research. Topics include: Philosophical perspectives of research; qualitative and quantitative research methods including many specific methods of each class; literature reviews, ethics and ethics approval, intellectual property protection and patent searching.
