Course aim

To provide students with the opportunity to understand the principles and concepts in traffic and transportation engineering.

Course content

Role of transport in society; transport technology, including modes of transport, transport terminals and rights-of-way; traffic flow theory; highway capacity analysis; traffic design, management and control; transport systems planning principles; road network planning principles; traffic studies; traffic signal capacity and timing analysis; intersection design principles. Environmental impacts of transport systems: noise, air pollution and intrusion. The principle of road safety audit.
