Course aim

To introduce the basic knowledge of drawings and graphic and provide a practical grounding in principles of urban design. Introduce to analytical techniques/approaches and implementation process in urban design, the formulation of design concepts, construction of design arguments and the graphic communication of design ideas.

Course content

Introduction to an approach to urban design which is responsive to people’s well being. Health, social, environmental and ecological issues. Critical analysis of past and current urban trends and ideas for more equitable and sustainable communities. The development of urban design responses to selected town, city and suburban case studies.
