Course aim

To provide students with practical skills in a range of relief printmaking techniques and to develop visual research skills with individual and collaborative projects.

Course content

Students will develop knowledge of printmaking terms and concepts, aspects of printmaking history and theory, analysis of set project material, visual research skills, development of project work with negotiable components, summarizing intentions and statements on work, instruction on safe work practices and working in a collaborative studio. Instruction in relief (lino or woodblock), intaglio (collagraph or etching)and alternative techniques, matrix preparation, ink application, choice of paper, and printing as an edition, serial or unique states will be covered.
