To enable students to examine the romantic impulse as it has manifested in the visual arts (and taking note of associated disciplines) since the 18th century.
Students will gain knowledge concerning the origins of and epistemological basis of Romanticism; its development as a concept in 18th, 19th and 20th century artistic thought. Students will gain research skills in areas of history, philosophy and the liberal arts.
