To develop students' comprehensive understanding of the evolution of photographic imagery as text.
Students will gain knowledge concerning the social, cultural and aesthetic impact of photography as a variety of visual text over the evolution of the medium. Students will gain the critical skills to differentiate between genres of photographic styles and their applications and will also acquire a grounding in the evolution of theories pertaining to photographic meaning.
