Course aim

To consolidate students' art practice through intense studio work, to critically examine notions of construction and deconstruction as they impact upon the production of contemporary visual art and to locate their work within the relevant field of contemporary arts practice. To provide students with the opportunity to integrate knowledge and research gained in their program with an expectation that the work produced will reflect this in the degree of resolution.

Course content

Students will work in a studio of choice as defined by their major study with an emphasis onthe importance of students developing an informed and self-critical approach to artmaking through projects that reflect current issues in local and international arts practice. Students will devise, in consultation with the individual specialisation lecturer and the Course Coordinator, individual study programs - including appropriate aims, content and methodologies. Comparative studies of major art practice will be undertaken, involving studio practice and current discourse and research in the field. Students will have the opportunity to move outside of that discipline to fulfil their study aims.
