To examine the history of Australian art beginning with Indigenous Art and continuing through to Australian modernism.
Students will gain an historical overview of predominant attitudes towards the production and reception of Australian art, craft and design from first settlement to the onset of postmodern issues. Students will gain critical and research skills that will enable them to discuss issues pertaining to Indigenous art, Australian modernism and art, craft and design in post-colonial and post-critical contexts.
