Course aim

To provide students with a working knowledge of landcare issues and restoration solutions.

Course content

Restoration ecology and principles of ecosystem restoration. Land and soil degradation issues and
problem definition. Soil erosion, salinity and amelioration. Soil biota and plant growth. Revegetation project plans. Case studies in mining, habitat recovery, ecosystem restoration. The sociology of landcare groups and volunteers. Trial plots and monitoring plans.
