Course aim

The aim of this course is to provide existing and nascent entrepreneurs with a framework for thinking about the driving forces that underpin growth oriented entrepreneurial businesses. These are businesses that are built around opportunities that provide the capacity for accelerated growth and the ability to produce superior returns. The course will equip students with team working skills and an awareness of different contexts of entrepreneurship across borders.

Course content

The course content applies to newly formed ventures, existing small to medium size growth-oriented ventures, and entrepreneurial ventures within larger corporations.
The course involves a range of topics including: the concept of entrepreneurship, drivers of the entrepreneurial process, and profile and characteristics of entrepreneurs; creativity and idea generation; recognising, evaluating and screening opportunities; mobilising resources, putting together the entrepreneurial team and writing business plans; managing growth and harvest; entrepreneurial finance; innovation and corporate entrepreneurship (intrapreneurship); family entrepreneurship; franchising; and personal ethics.
