Course aim

Enable students to make high level independent judgements relating to responsible and accountable communication management.

Course content

Students in this course will undertake a study of ethics, social responsibility and legal issues in managing communication at a strategic level. Topics covered include ethics theory and frameworks, ethical challenges, corporate and professional standards,  codes of practice that govern new and traditional media, corporate social responsibility and its reporting, contract law, copyright, defamation, laws affecting new media, and the place of law within contemporary public relations practice.
