Creative and Feature Writing for the Media

Course aim

To enable students to develop an understanding of the techniques required for publication of feature material in the print media, and to achieve familiarity with the discipline of writing original communication initiatives for discerning audiences.

Course content

Structure of written information in the mainstream print media; comparison between news and feature writing; style variations for defined publications and their readers; ethical considerations; the balance between information and entertainment in the creative non-fiction genre.
