To extend students' knowledge of communication as a practical discipline through analysis and assessment of the development of organisational communication, the culture of organisations and the interrelationship of communication and culture.
Students will develop an advanced knowledge of theoretical and applied approaches to communication studied in introductory and intermediate level courses. The practices and processes of communication in diverse organisations are examined using historical and contemporary case studies. Students are required to demonstrate creative and critical thinking in complex projects and to exhibit sophisticated skills in the production of organisational communication. Students will able to relate communication in organisations to the use and application of communication media in its changing forms and requires the application of theory to assess and resolve issues and problems relating to decision making, power and ethics.
