Course aim

To introduce students to the documentary form and its key elements, techniques, and practices

Course content

Students are introduced to formal elements of documentary film making including conventions and techniques encompassing research, scriptwriting and storytelling. Students take on crew roles and responsibilities that entail filming interviews and completing overlays and voice-overs in post-production. Students are introduced to theoretical issues of audience, authorial voice, authority, representation and ethics.
