Course aim

To consolidate students’ proficiency in spoken and written Italian, building on their prior language learning, and strengthening their cultural literacy through reflection on aspects of contemporary Italian culture and society.

Course content

Vocabulary and language structures related to the range of texts, themes and topics covered; grammatical concepts with a focus on language in use; sociolinguistic knowledge integral to the range of situations and tasks covered in the language classes; a range of text types appropriate to students’ language proficiency level including a selection of works by contemporary Italian writers; aspects of contemporary Italian culture and society relevant to the readings and projects covered.
