Course aim

To introduce students to the demands of radio journalism in an industry setting and the processes inherent in the preparation and presentation of radio news with a live audience. In addition, to develop an awareness of the practical constraints of radio journalism and an ability to work to daily deadline pressures.

Course content

Approaches to radio news; reporting for radio; mainstream news bulletins and updates; news-reading; critical demands of editing for content and balance; the studio/actuality mix; time and actuality constraints.
