Course aim

To develop the ability to design/redesign a product for the ease of manual and automatic assembly, and also the ease of manufacture, along with the environmental consideration.

Course content

What is DFMA, Traditional Design and Manufacture vs Concurrent Engineering, DFMA as a tool for concurrent engineering, three DFMA criteria for retaining components for redesign of a product; Design for Manual Assembly; Design for Automatic Assembly; Computer-Aided Design for Assembly; Design for Manufacture (design for machining); Geometric Tolerancing for Manufacture as per Australian Standards; Social and Environmental impacts of design and manufacture.
