Course aim

To develop students' understanding of key techniques, skills and concepts associated with writing and reporting in contemporary journalism practice, building on knowledge pertaining to relationships between audiences and
publishing institutions, and apply this knowledge to the production of material for a variety of traditional, digital
and emerging media platforms in local and global markets.

Course content

Students will identify news issues and employ appropriate reporting conventions and approaches to
communicate via diverse print and electronic media platforms. They will determine and apply various
reporting styles, determine and apply appropriate audience/writer relationship models, and critically analyse
ethical considerations in journalism.
