To provide students with an introductory understanding of the role of the media in contemporary life, and the skills to communicate effectively in a variety of contexts.
Theories of communication; Media industries (print, broadcast and advertising) and media audiences; the effects of the media on contemporary life; Forms of writing - academic writing, report writing, and media writing; Engaging with media - public relations, media interviews, media conferences; Communication and technology - significance of the Internet, and implications for international communication; Globalisation of the media; cultural diversity; communication in the Asian region.
