Course aim
To develop students’ understandings of and their capabilities in advancing, technological and design literacy.
Course content
Political and social determinants of ‘technological literacy’; Theories of technological and design literacy – technical, instrumental, critical, ethical, atomistic, holistic; Appropriate Design and Technology communication genres (e.g technical, aesthetic, graphical, oral, written, three-dimensional solid and virtual modelling) through design-based Design and Technology projects; Connection of these genres as empowerments to learning and teaching practice with school students; Creativity and designerly thinking; Design and development of briefs and projects to create technologically and design literate school students.
