Course aim

To deepen students’ personal understandings of the goals, purposes and methods of teaching mathematics in the middle and senior years of schooling.

Course content

The students will develop deeper understanding of the nature of knowledge in and purpose of teaching mathematics. The students will critique the impact of learning theory on the teaching of mathematics and examine assessment in mathematics, the teaching methodologies appropriate for junior secondary mathematics, the use of computers and calculators in mathematics teaching and curriculum documents.
