The aim of this course is to familiarise students with a range of complex lower limb disorders in children and help students to develop relevant advanced treatment skills.
Examination and assessment: techniques, clinical presentation of the child, communication with parent and child. Developmental processes: neurological, motor, bony, soft tissue, gait patterns. Movement analysis: posture, gait, patterns of play, clinical assessment of movement. Orthoses: aquaplast, triplane wedges, torsional splints, prescriptive orthoses, casts. Footwear: types, construction, lasts, special designs, prescription.
