Course aim

To provide students with an overview of the principles and application of bioethics particularly as they pertain to the relevant biotechnology professions.

Course content

Philosophy of bioethics; philosophical frameworks applied to ethical issues in bioethics; bioethical aspects of genetic engineering, IVF, cloning and manipulation of organisms; animals in experimentation; vaccination; ethical considerations at the beginning and end of the human life span; bioethics of environmental concerns such as genetically-modified GM crops.
