To advance students' knowledge of the role and purpose of Catholic schools in the education of children and young people within the contemporary Australian situation.
Students will develop knowledge of the role and purpose of Catholic schools in the education of children and young people within the contemporary Australian situation, the role of Catholic schools as agents of the Church in a pluralistic society, the range of positions regarding the purpose of religious education in Catholic schools, the history of religious education approaches in Australian Catholic schools, the implications of human and religious development of children and adolescents for religious education, foundational elements of curriculum design in Religious Education Learning Area for the South Australian context, articulate own approach to RE, various positions regarding assessment and reporting in RE, and how to teach Scripture in RE.
