Course aim

To develop and apply knowledge of the aetiology, diagnosis, classification, assessment, description and treatment of psychological disorders.

Course content

Historical overview; theoretical perspectives on psychological disorders; normality and abnormality; DSM-IV, and alternative classification systems; critiques of classification and diagnosis; psychodiagnosis; case formulation; aetiology, assessment issues, and treatment of a range of psychological disorders including: anxiety and mood disorders; psychotic disorders, personality disorders; introduction to psychopharmacology.
