Course aim
To extend knowledge and understanding of Indigenous issues impacting on the First Nations people of North America, Australia and the Pacific region.
Course content
Approaches to comparative studies; pre-colonial cultures; colonialism; culture and ideology; diversity of social, economic and political structures; racism; assimilation, resistance; poverty, land, land rights, sovereignty and treaties; contemporary political movements.
