New Communication and Media Technologies

Course aim

To familiarise students with the way in which new communication and media technologies are changing established patterns of work, education and leisure, as well as cultural and other forms of identification and affiliation.

Course content

Description of new communication and media technologies; processes of convergence between computing, communications and telecommunications; growth of new industries, markets and global relationships; significance of the Internet; reconsideration of the nature of publishing and broadcasting; new forms of international cultural flows.
