Course aim

To introduce students to the theories, principles and practice of sustainable urban design that focus on functional, morphological and temporal dimensions of urban design.

Course content

Sustainable urban design processes and principles; ecological and urban evolutionary potential; mixed uses, designing for adaptability and incremental development; equity of choice and opportunity; equitable access - walking, cycling, wheelchairs, walking frames, and public transport. Collaborative teamwork; development of long NBE strategies and action plans; graphic and computer aided presentation of principles; evaluation techniques.
