Course aim

At the end of this course students will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge in respect to domestic building construction

Course content

Historical development of domestic construction. The supporting and enclosing functions of buildings. Operations of small building companies. Building elements and components and their sequencing including foundations, footings, floors, walls, roofs and finishing trades. Elementary building services. Building regulations, standards & codes. Titles and surveying techniques; levelling, measured surveys and set out of buildings and site works.
