Course aim

To familiarise students with current recommended English Curriculum materials and resources available in their local schools, including national and local curriculum processes; to provide students with the skills and understandings necessary to operate as educators in a TESL/TEFL context; to acquaint students with the issues of language contact, language change and language shift, plus the potentials of language learning and language planning in a language contact situation.

Course content

English curriculum materials and resources: selection and organisation of a variety of resources, suitable for achieving objectives; teaching English as a second language: identification and application of relevant teaching strategies/styles; language issues: language contact, language change and language engineering.
