Course aim

To develop an awareness and understanding of how children develop from birth through to adolescence; to examine the different roles that the teacher, school, parents and community have on the schooling experience of children; to examine the educational and socio-cultural roles of Anangu Education Workers (AEWs) in schools.

Course content

Stages and principles of child development from birth to adolescence; how a child develops within their culture, community and family; genetic influences, environmental influences etc; investigation of the role of teachers, parents and community; the identification and explanation of the role of AEWs in schools.
