Course aim

To enable students to understand fundamental elements and principles of design which incorporate text, images and colour for print media.

Course content

This course presents the fundamental elements of visual design and the components of electronic document publication. Consideration will be given to the theoretical concepts and implications of design elements and principles, such as principles of graphic space, balance, rhythm and proportion; typographic principles; special effects using text and images and use of colour; ethical and legal implications of the manipulation of images and text.
