Course aim

To provide students with an understanding of the significance of renewable and distributed power generation and their implications on the operation of modern electric power systems

Course content

Renewable energy sources, generation of electrical power from renewable and other sources. Details of solar photovoltaic systems including power conditioning and electrical energy storage. Details of wind turbine generating systems and associated converters. Modelling and simulation of distributed generation. Interfacing distributed generation to power grid and regulatory issues. Economics of distributed generation.
